The Institute has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.
Project outline
The MRC National Mouse Genetics Network (NMGN) is a recent major new investment to support the enhancement of mouse research and its alignment with human clinical studies, across a range of human diseases. The NMGN programme requires a scalable data sharing platform focused on the scientific priorities of the network. The data platform and outward facing data portal will support the capture, sharing and reuse of datasets generated by > 70 research groups across the NMGN, and will be used to support data exchange between the network and the international community.
A staff scientist position is available within the Computational Biology Group to lead a team of four to develop this data platform. The postholder will join an established interdisciplinary group of software engineers, computer scientists, biologists and mathematicians, and will relish bringing their skills to bear in this highly dynamic and collaborative environment.
The role will involve collaborating widely across the UK preclinical modelling and data management communities and will entail working in tandem with a software engineering and data management team based at the Mary Lyon Centre in Oxford.
