As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis. Its research ethos is about excellence, honesty, openness, accountability and integrity

Project outline

We currently have a position available with the Colorectal Cancer and Wnt Signalling, and Preclinical Pancreatic Cancer groups within the CRUK Scotland Institute. This position forms part of an exciting collaborative research programme, “Engineered Genetic Control Systems for Advanced Therapeutics”, funded as a UKRI Engineering Biology Mission Hub. You will join an exciting and dynamic team investigating and developing the use of synthetic gene delivery as a new approach for effective cancer treatment.

You will be responsible for collaborative research projects both within the CRUK Scotland Institute and external groups, utilising world-leading in vitro and in vivo models of cancer. A key feature of your role will also be providing support for our early researchers. Ideal candidates will have a PhD in a relevant field, while good organisational and people skills and the ability to multitask and act as a team player will also be very important.
